To dare to disturb the universe with an original, strong, beautiful, smart, funny, and fun beauty and health site.

Daring because it’s created and written by An Actual Journalist with world-class medical, beauty, and journalist advisors.

Universal because we’re connecting real beauty and health information with real women and girls who care about those things as much as we do.

As for our name, More Lovely. It was inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18:

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely…

In our context, this means you were born lovely. So you’re already lovely. And you can be more with the right guidance, experts, and products.

Let us go then, you and I.

NYFW: Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear

NYFW: Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear

By Laura Vogel

Tibi designer Amy Smilovic knows what urban/urbane women want. Her Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear show on February 11th was a fusion of looks that we city ladies need: Looks that are chic yet easy-to-wear, sophisticated but still playful. A good portion of her runway show was peppered with literal signs of the metropolis where her looks were shown: There were trench coats “spray-painted” with those inscrutable ConEd symbols on the city’s asphalt and T-shirts in traffic-cone orange. We especially loved Smilvoic’s large turtleneck sweaters paired with pencil skirts and tall boots—a look that would be welcome in most offices.

The makeup for the show was created by Stila Cosmetics and Global Director of Creative Artistry, Sarah Lucero, and it paired beautifully with the Tibi designs. It also reflected the look that most Manhattanites are craving these days—simple, clean, and fresh.

First off, Sarah and her team cleaned the models’ faces and prepped them using Marula 3-in-1 Rejuvenating Eye Treatment to give tired-looking eyes a boost. Next, she applied Marula Pure Marula Facial Oil for a radiant, lit-from-within look; Sarah then exfoliated and moisturized the lips and bushed the lashes and brows upward.

To lay the groundwork for this clean makeup look, Sarah and her MUAs first applied Stila Stay All Day® Foundation + Concealer where needed to color-correct and even-out models’ skin, finishing the complexion with Illuminating Powder Foundation for velvety-smooth skin.

Brows are crucial in a low-key look like this: To make them pop, Sarah filled in brows using Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Brow Color and  lightly feathered the pen tip through the brows to mimic real hair with soft, short strokes.

On eyes, Sarah and her team created a geometric triangle wing using Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Tetra on the outer corner of the eye; on the lower lash line, just in the center, they applied Stila Shimmer + Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Vivid Sapphire (coming in fall ’18). They then swiped a light coat of Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, on top lashes only, and combed through. An eye makeup trick, per Sarah Lucero, “Use multiple liner colors with eye makeup to add a pop of unexpected detail to the look.”

On cheeks, Sarah’s design for the Tibi show called for working with the natural shape of the model's face, lightly applying Stila Convertible Color Lip & Cheek Cream in Camellia. Finally, for the simple lip look, Sarah and her crew applied one coat of Stila Lush Lips Water Plumping Primer to keep the lips matte, natural and smooth.
